Ryan Wigglesworth conducts the BBC Symphony orchestra and the BBC Symphony Chorus in Gustav Holst’s The Planets and Richard Strauss’ Death and Transfiguration.
They’ll also be joined by baritone Roderick Williams for the world premiere of Matthew Kaner’s Pearl, based on a medieval poem translated by Poet Laureate Simon Armitage.
This concert is part of the BBC Proms, the world’s largest classical music festival. Taking place over eight weeks, the festival features performances every day until 10 September - most of which take place at The Royal Albert Hall, in South Kensington.
The festival’s ethos is to provide high-quality and inexpensive concerts. For every concert, you can pick up tickets on-the-day for £7.12 (including fees). They’re released at 10.30am for the performance that evening. Find out more about Promming here.
