American composer, trumpeter and all-round jazz legend Wynton Marsalis has his Violin Concerto performed at the BBC Proms for the very first time by Nicola Benedetti.

Thomas Søndergård and The Royal Scottish National Orchestra will also perform Thomas Adès’s Powder her Face suite, Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, as well as Britten’s Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes.

This concert is part of the BBC Proms, the world’s largest classical music festival. Taking place over eight weeks, the festival features performances every day until 10 September - most of which take place at The Royal Albert Hall, in South Kensington.

The festival’s ethos is to provide high-quality and inexpensive concerts. For every concert, you can pick up tickets on-the-day for £7.12 (including fees). They’re released at 10.30am for the performance that evening. Find out more about Promming here.
