the performers:

City of London Sinfonia Brass Trio

the programme:

French-inspired music by 20th century composers Poulenc, Stravinsky and more

about the music:

We haven’t been tipped off about the exact music that the City of London Sinfonia Brass Trio will play in this concert, but you can be assured that it’ll be an exciting mix of anything from classical repertoire arranged for brass trio, to some popular show tunes.

Luckily, this concert is in the City of London Sinfonia’s Comfortable Classical series: inviting anyone and everyone, from young children to older adults, to experience orchestral music.

This means that, not only are these concerts more relaxed than traditional classical concerts, the musicians will introduce each piece and explain its background and what to listen out for.

To get an idea of what to expect from a brass trio, have a listen to this from our friends across the pond at Toronto Symphony Orchestra:

about the performers:

The City of London Sinfonia bring a distinctive, seriously informal style to everything they do, breaking down the barriers between their musicians and audiences.

As mentioned above, it’s part of the ensemble’s Comfortable Classical series. These concerts are more relaxed than traditional classical concerts and feature introductions from the musicians, as well as inspiring performances of classical music - audience members are also encouraged to draw and colour while they listen to the music.

The brass trio will consist of Mark Paine (French horn) + Imogen Hancock (Trumpet) + Ruth Molins (Trombone).

the venue:

The Albany is an arts centre in the heart of Deptford that exists to inspire, develop and support creativity for the benefit of the local community.

Originally founded to assist the local community that had suffered from the closure of the docks in 1869, it’s now a really fantastic space with community spirit still at the heart of everything they do.

the price:

This event is Pay-What-You-Decide (PWYD) which means you book as normal but you don’t pay a penny until after you’ve seen the show, based on how much you are able to contribute.
