Manchester Collective perform Richard Strauss’ Four Last Songs and Metamorphosen in Peckham’s converted car park Bold Tendencies.
Premiered in London in 1950, a year after Strauss’ death, each of the Four Last Songs borrow their titles from poems by Herman Hesse and symbolise the culmination of life and a contemplation of eternity.
