The Boston Symphony Orchestra returns to the BBC Proms under Music Director Andris Nelsons for the first of two concerts – human resilience the theme.
Julia Adolphe’s Makeshift Castle, a contemporary meditation on fragility and endurance, is followed by Richard Strauss’ Death and Transfiguration and Sergey Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5.
This performance is part of the BBC Proms, the world’s largest classical music festival. Taking place over eight weeks, the festival features performances every day until 9 September - most of which take place at The Royal Albert Hall, in South Kensington.
The festival’s ethos is to provide high-quality and inexpensive concerts. For every concert, you can pick up tickets on-the-day for £8. They’re released at 10.30am for the performance that evening. Find out more about Promming here.
