72-year-old lunchtime series restarts today

Bishopsgate Institute’s iconic lunchtime performance series reopens in their Great Hall today.

The free Friday concerts have been a tradition since 1948, providing inspiration and respite from the world outside for an hour a week in a relaxed performance environment.

They were first created as a way of raising morale during the Second World War - something which is most needed again now.

The nine events run every Friday from 16 October - 27 November, in a range of musical genres - from the traditional to the unexpected.

Over the course of the series, you will hear three different instruments presented in three different ways each. Take a look at who’s playing and what to expect here.
