LSO to feature composer-curated events this autumn
The London Symphony Orchestra is programming a series of groundbreaking concerts curated by composers, featuring new works by Soweto Kinch, Hollie Harding and Des Oliver. We’ve picked some our favourites for you to check out below.
The Diasporic Quartets: Des Oliver
Saturday 23 October, 7:30pm, LSO St Luke’s, Old Street
An evening exploring the music, ideas and experiences of British-based classical composers from the African diaspora, and featuring a world premiere of renowned composer and filmmaker Des Oliver’s The Diasporic Quartets.
Saturday 13 November, 7:30pm LSO St Luke’s, Old Street
This concert will feature the premiere of Hollie Harding’s audio-visual piece, FERAL, alongside groundbreaking and inspiring music on the theme of human interaction with the natural world, performed by some of the best contemporary musicians on the scene.
LSO/EFG London Jazz Festival: Soweto Kinch
Friday 19 November, 7:30pm, Barbican
Saxophonist and MC Soweto Kinch is one of the UK’s biggest Jazz talents, and this collaboration with the LSO will feature his new work for orchestra, White Juju, written in response to the Black Lives Matter movement, Black British history and the past 18 months of lockdown.
