mindmusic
what is it?
mindmusic is a community-focussed programme which aims to tackle the impact of Covid-19 on mental health and wellbeing.
We work with mental health organisations, clinical psychologists and professional musicians to provide a space for uplifting music, open discussion and education.
For the past year these sessions have taken place over Zoom, with participants referred from London-based mental health charities.
why?
through the noise exists to inspire people with live classical music.
Of course, we’ve had our work cut out for us a little over the last year, so we wanted to use our skills and resources to help some of the most lonely and isolated members of our community.
mindmusic was developed in collaboration with our partner charity, Dose of Nature, and we have now run weekly sessions for just over a year.
From the very beginning, the positive impact of a welcoming, inspiring and uplifting space on those struggling with loneliness, severe anxiety, depression, and other mental health problems has been clear.
what about after covid?
We believe that live culture is going to be key to rebuilding our communities, and so we’ve decided that mindmusic will become a permanent part of through the noise, even after lockdown.
We expect to continue with our constantly-expanding Zoom groups for quite some time, but we’re also hard at work developing a series of live mindmusic events for later on in 2021.
In the meantime, if you have any questions about the project or wish to enquire about getting involved, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
