Europe’s first majority Black and ethnically diverse orchestra returns to the Royal Albert Hall with Beethoven’s joyful Fourth Symphony and Haydn’s exuberant Trumpet Concerto, performed by Aaron Azunda Akugbo.

On a mission to champion change and celebrate diversity in classical music, Chineke! also showcases music by pioneering Black British composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and his American namesake, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson. Plus there’s an opportunity to hear Valerie Coleman’s pandemic anthem, Seven O’Clock Shout.

This performance is part of the BBC Proms, the world’s largest classical music festival. Taking place over eight weeks, the festival features performances every day until 9 September - most of which are at The Royal Albert Hall, in South Kensington.

The festival’s ethos is to provide high-quality and inexpensive concerts. For every concert, you can pick up tickets on-the-day for £8. They’re released at 10.30am for the performance that evening. Find out more about Promming here.
