Audiences could return to live events from 17 May, according to the Prime Minister’s roadmap for easing restrictions announced today.

From that date, two households will be able to mix indoors - with the rule of six still applicable in hospitality settings.

However, social distancing will remain in place until at least 21 June.

Restrictions will be gradually lifted in a number of stages from 8 March, subject to four tests: on vaccines, infection rates and new coronavirus variants.

Outdoor hospitality will reopen on 12 April in England if those conditions are met, meaning that we could get some weather-dependent outdoor performances before the rest of the industry opens up.
