We were pretty excited at through the noise HQ when award-winning Solem Quartet announced Beethoven Bartók Now back in December.

The six-part series brings together the late string quartets of Beethoven and the quartets of Béla Bartók, reimagined with music from composers of today.

The quartet are currently looking for a composer to write an ambitious new work as part of Beethoven Bartók Now: Pioneers, to take place in Spring 2022.

The winner of the Call for Scores competition will receive a prize of £1500; their 15 minute work will interact with and respond to Bartók’s Quartet no. 1 and Beethoven’s Quartet no. 14.

Applications close at 11pm February 28th 2021. Apply here.
