The Prime Minister has outlined in a press conference this afternoon what social restrictions will look like after the next unlocking stage on 19 July.

The final decision on whether the next stage will take place is to be made on 12 July. The Prime Minister reiterated that current data suggests it is highly likely to do so.

All legal limits on capacities will be lifted, for both indoor and outdoor events. The 1m+ rule will also be dropped, meaning that venues will be able to operate at 100% capacity - the first time this has been permitted since March 2020.

In addition, all businesses will be allowed to open, including nightclubs which have not been able to host events at any point during the pandemic so far.

The legal obligation to wear a mask will also go, but the guidance to wear a mask in crowded indoor spaces, especially in those with poor ventilation, will remain in place.

Certification of vaccination will not be required as entry to events, and venue owners and event planners will not need to collect customer data for test and trace.

However, the legal requirement to isolate upon a positive test, or when notified by test and trace, is set to remain.
