Shows in COVID-secure environments to go ahead despite policy change

Newly announced changes to coronavirus rules will not effect theatre and music events in England.

The UK government leaked the changes on Tuesday evening and the law will change on Monday 14 September. So far it looks like live music is safe.

Until the Prime Minister’s press conference at 4pm today, there were few details available on the new rules.

There was widespread fear for the live entertainment industry, which had just started to re-awaken. It also lead to fear at through the noise: we’ve spent the last few weeks finding the best of what’s on.

But the government's advice was clear: ‘indoor theatres, music and performance venues are able to reopen with socially distanced audiences’. This has been the case since the 15th of August.
