What's on this week: classical music in London

We’re less an a month away until our next two noisenights, both taking place in a South West London converted postal sorting office-turned intimate theatre / bar.

They’ll feature ground-breaking performer-composers Héloïse Werner and Colin Alexander on 9 March, followed by the UK’s first women and non-binary orchestra Her Ensemble on 12 March. You can find out more about those here.

In the meantime, we’ve got a load of great performances lined up this week, from an intimate coffee morning with a solo piano recital to a pop-up festival of experimental music at the Barbican…

Artisti con Brio perform excerpts from ballets as part of the Candlelight Concerts series with the Sophie Adams Ballet Company

Friday 18 February, 1pm

Trumpeter Imogen Whitehead performs at Bishopsgate Institute, as their free Friday lunchtime concert series returns

Sunday 20 February, 11am

Pianist Philipp Scheucher features in the Royal Albert Hall’s Classical Coffee Mornings: an informal series in the venue’s Elgar Room

Sunday 20 February, 3pm

The Barbican Centre hosts an afternoon of free performances by nonclassical, across various pop-up stages around the estate


Wednesday 23 February, 6.30pm

The London Symphony Orchestra perform Poulenc’s La voix humaine with Barbara Hannigan in an informal early-evening concert


Wednesday 9 March 2022, 6pm + 8pm

Award-winning performers and composers Héloïse Werner and Colin Alexander present a variety of new music at OSO Arts

Saturday 12 March 2022, 6pm + 8pm

Her Ensemble follow up from their debut concert at Battersea Arts Centre, performing their favourite pieces by women composers
