What's on this week: classical music in London

As the summer season comes to a close, with both the BBC Proms and Bold Tendencies hosting their final performances on Saturday, the next season of classical music is about to get underway.

The Southbank Centre have some great events ahead of their official opening weekend later this month, and this week marks one month until the first installment of noisenights10-18, with Roberts Balanas kicking things off on 8 October at OMEARA.

Tuesday 6 September, 7.30pm

Nicola Benedetti performs Wynton Marsalis’ Violin Concerto at its Proms premiere, alongside music by Adès, Britten, and Bernstein

Thursday 8 September, 7.30pm

Ruth McGinley plays Philip Glass, Eric Satie, Chick Corea and reimagined folk songs by composer Neil Martin at the Southbank Centre

Saturday 10 September, 7.30pm

Jeneba Kanneh-Mason joins the Philharmonia for the final performance of the orchestra’s season at Bold Tendencies


Saturday 8 October, 8pm

Latvian violinist Roberts Balanas performs in London Bridge club OMEARA, featuring music by Bach, Locatelli, Reich, Pink Floyd, and more
