First single from Esther Abrami & Her Ensemble's EP released
Sony Classical have teased Angela Morley’s Rêverie, off the upcoming EP Spotlight by Esther Abrami and Her Ensemble.
Angela Morley composed numerous film scores, including The Little Prince, The Slipper and the Rose and Watership Down, and was the first openly transgender person to be nominated for an Oscar.
Esther Abrami says of the piece:
“When I heard it the first time, I could not believe that this piece is not referred to as a 'classic'. The melody stays in my head, it sounds British in its romanticism, but also very Hollywood, as if it were a movie score. There is also a very strong story behind the life of the composer, and I wanted to highlight it.”
The EP, out on 21 October 2022, will showcase female and non-binary classical composers. Other singles from the EP include pieces by Shirley Thompson, Louise Farrenc, and Fanny Hensel.
