what are noisenights?

noisenights are our vision for the future of classical music: crowdfunded gigs taking world-leading musicians to iconic independent venues.

At the centre of every noisenight is a one-hour classical set. We platform international soloists and ensembles while also giving opportunities to outstanding new artists. All noisenights take place in gig venues where you get to experience classical music up close.

Live music needs your backing more than ever. Backing a noisenight means getting tickets to hear the world's best performers in grassroots venues and being part of a community working for a positive future for live music. Putting it simply, you giving your backing will make this gig happen and secure you a ticket.

After a noisenight reaches its funding target, we'll e-mail all backers to confirm it and a small amount of extra tickets will be made available. Tickets are released in four stages, which increase in price the closer to the event they're purchased. Book early to get the best price.

Please note that due to the venue's license, this noisenight is strictly 12+ (under 14s must be accompanied by an adult).

the venue:

Southside is a community venue bringing music and art to the spaces south of the train tracks and next to Lincoln's South Common.

Consisting of an old church building and a gig venue, Southside won heriatage architechture awards when it was refurbished in 2010, bringing new life to the original site built in 1870.

the music:

Sidiki Dembélé brings the sounds of his homeland to this show. Originally from Côte d'Ivoire and hailing from a well-known Malian Griot family, this performance will see him collaborate with top musicians from Senegal and beyond for a celebration of all things West Africa.

Singer Mariatou Dembélé joins the ensemble specially from Abidjan to lead this show, after her guest appearances during Sidiki's sold-out UK tour earlier this year.

sidiki dembélé:

Sidiki began his training around the age of 5 and by aged 10 was playing professionally in his own community at important and prestigious events. By age 14 he was travelling the country, playing professionally as part of various African ballet companies and performance groups, becoming the musical director for some.

In 2007, he received the great honour of being selected to be a lead performer in Andre Heller’s ‘Afrika! Afrika!’ – a magical circus adventure and sensual discovery of Africa. Sidiki performed with them for two years, before moving to the UK to continue his career.

These days, Sidiki has an long list of credentials in festival appearances, theatre performances and album credits. Placing importance on giving back to the culture and community which gave him life, Sidiki has started a school in his homeland where parents can send disadvantaged children to learn to play.

The first graduates of that school are now an established, self-sufficient West African musician group – Denifari. Sidiki is also giving back to Cote d’Ivoire, by organising two successful trips per year to his homeland for people to come and learn djembe, dundun and dance from the traditional west African griot masters in the heart of his family home.
