Barbican Centre reopens concert hall to live audiences
The doors of the Barbican Centre’s concert hall are to open for the first time since lockdown, after the announcement of a concert series featuring the London Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and many of music’s biggest names.
We’re so excited at through the noise - this is the first of London’s large concert halls / theatres to have announced the return of live audiences.
Less than a sixth of the seats in the hall – which can normally accommodate just under 1,950 – will be available due to social distancing, but it’s definitely progress.
Around 300 tickets for each event will be on sale for £20 each, and tickets to watch the live stream (or on demand within two days following the performance) will be £12.50.
It’s an amazing programme of events too, including a musical voyage through space and time with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Professor Brian Cox to jazz clarinettist, saxophonist and composer Shabaka Hutchings with the Britten Sinfonia.
We’re particularly glad to see the London Symphony Orchestra back on stage with a series of concerts from 29 November - 22 December. You can find out more about those here.
At through the noise HQ we’re already hard at work picking through the details to bring you our ideas about what to go and see. Keep an eye on our things to go to page for updates.
All performances go on general sale at 10am on Friday 11 September. Check them out, and get ready to pick up tickets, here.
