Live music in London this week

After a fantastic few days of live music once lockdown restrictions were lifted last Wednesday, London’s classical music scene is back in full force this week. Here are our suggestions:

Monday 7 December, 6.30pm

Roderick Williams, Kathryn Rudge & Edward Hawkins sing Schwanengesang at the Spotlight Chamber Concerts festival in Waterloo.

Tuesday 8 December, 6pm

The Hermes Experiment perform music written and arranged for them in ROSL’s stunning home on Park Place.

Wednesday 9 December, 1.10pm

Giacomo Susani plays his own compositions alongside Frescobaldi, Bach & more in St James’s Church, Piccadilly.

Wednesday 9 December, 7.30pm

Artisti Con Brio present a programme of music for string trio in Candid Arts Trust’s gallery next to Angel station.

Friday 11 December, 1.10pm

Nuno Lucas (piano) + Dillon Jeffares (violin) + Kumi Matsuo (piano) present a varied programme including Mendelssohn, Vine, Liszt, Chausson & Chopin in St James’s Church.

Friday 11 December, 6.30pm

Solem Quartet play music by Beethoven and British composer Thomas Adès at St John’s Waterloo as part of Spotlight Chamber Concerts.

Friday 11 December, 7.30pm

World-class musicians Kuljit Bhamra MBE (tabla), Andres Ticino (percussion) and the Alkyona String Quartet fuse world and classical music.

Saturday 12 December, various

Flux Ensemble play Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite arranged for string quartet at Grand Junction in Paddington.

Sunday 13 December, 6.30pm

Maxwell Quartet & Anthony Friend perform Scottish folk music alongside Mozart and Haydn quintets and quartets.
