What's on this week: classical music in London

Afrik Bawantu, led by Afla Sackey - who will perform with nonclassical on Sunday, and at noisenight eight next week

What a week. We’ve just about recovered from noisenight seven on Saturday, where percussionist Toril Azzalini-Machecler, funk and afrobeats outfit BlindB Soundsystem, and DJ Mattana delivered incredible back-to-back sets - filling Dalston’s home of live music The Jago from 6.30pm-3.30am.

We’re straight back in to action next week, as the Jess Gillam Ensemble kick-off their UK tour with us at Well Seasoned (in Peckham Levels) on 14 May. More about that below, along with our favourite concerts you should go to this week…

Wednesday 4 May, 8pm

Pianist Rebeca Omordia, Kora player / cellist Tunde Jegede, and electronic musician / violist Ibukun Sunday join nonclassical in Lambeth

Friday 6 May, 5pm

October House Records host their first event: a celebratory outdoor party in IKLECTIK’s courtyard with electronic music and live performance inside

Sunday 8 May, 4.30pm

Bex Burch and Afla Sackey perform original compositions and Ghanaian music before 4-piece KRAR Collective play Ethiopian classical music

Saturday 14 May, 7pm + 9pm
