noisenights summer party

fabricio mattos + friends

17 july 2022 / 4pm / the speakeasy dalston

Brazilian guitarist Fabricio Mattos brings his band to a Dalston beer garden for an afternoon of samba and traditional choro music from the heart of Rio de Janeiro.

the venue:

The Speakeasy is a family run cocktail bar located in the heart of Dalston. The cosy indoor bar opens up to a huge hidden pub garden at the back, nestled between high rises and warehouses.

Doors open at 4pm, with the music starting shortly after. Happy hour will run 5-7pm, so covers the second half of the samba set, and there's a brand new retractable roof and outdoor heaters, so you can be confident it'll be comfortable whatever the weather.

the music:

Fabricio Mattos was born in Curitiba, Brazil, and began his musical life at the age of six playing percussion instruments at carnival parties with his father, saxophonist Elio Mattos.

Fabricio will play choro - a genre of instrumental Brazilian popular music which originated in 19th century Rio de Janeiro - interspersed with some Brazilian waltzes with his trio of Lucas Jordon (flute) and Mario Almeida (percussion).
